The black porcini (Boletus aereus Bull., 1789) is an edible mushroom of the Boletaceae family.
It is highly sought after and prized for its heady aroma and because it has a very dense meat and high yield; hard, white, and is not colored under the cap cuticle. It has a very welcoming smell, intense and aromatic, especially after cooking. In its raw form it is similar to the smell of musk. Excellent flavor, and the best porcini according to many.
